Newsletters
With the Newsletters module you send messages to your members, built from blocks.
Write a newsletter
Go to Newsletters in the menu and choose Compose newsletter. At the top it shows who will get it: all members of your business.
The form has four parts:
Title. The heading of the newsletter and the subject of the email.
Public. If this is on, anyone with the link can read the newsletter, even without an account. If it is off, only logged-in members of your business can access it. DoToo recommends making newsletters public, so you can also share them outside the app.
Email teaser. The bit of text in the email your members get, with the Read the newsletter button below it. It is not in the newsletter itself. This field is required before you can send.
Attachments. Files members can download with the newsletter.
Below that you build the content at Blocks with Add block:
| Block | What for |
|---|---|
| Text | Text with formatting |
| Heading | A heading, with a choice of levels |
| Full-width image | One image, with alt text and caption |
| Image gallery | Multiple images side by side |
| Button link | A button with its own text and link |
| Embed | Video or audio from YouTube, Vimeo, or Spotify |
You drag blocks with the handle, or you move them with Move up and Move down. The X removes a block.
On the right you see two previews in the meantime: How the email looks and How the newsletter will look. With Save you keep your work; the newsletter stays Draft until you send it.
Send
Open the newsletter and choose Send to all members, and confirm. It goes to all active members of your business, by email and as a message in the app.
If the email teaser is missing, you get the message Missing email teaser and nothing happens. Fill it in first via Edit.
Change a sent newsletter
You can do that with Edit. DoToo does warn you then: members have already received it, so changes do not send a new notification. They are visible right away to anyone who opens the newsletter.
Find them again
In the list you can search and, as Staff or Admin, filter on Status — Draft, Sent, Scheduled, or Archived — and on Public yes or no. Members only see the newsletters they have received.
Discuss
On a sent newsletter, members can choose Discuss. That opens a chat about that newsletter, where you and your members can reply. See Chat.
Newsletters from DoToo
Messages that DoToo itself sends to organizations are not here, but at Support.
